Put the nut back in place, but not tight, only so that there is a small gap between the nut and the steering wheel and try harder! Or use the coeerct tools

defo leave the nut on, cause the spring can send it flying, plus when you pull on it hard and it finally kets go you might get twat'd in the head,
not that I've ever done that one

dont hit the steering column as it has a collapsable part down near your knees, it will compress every time you hit it, put your knees behind the wheel (tight squeese) than pull harder than a slapper with a thyroid problem. but make sure you put the bolt back on a few turns before you attempt this or you will be spending a short while down A&E with a busted face.

waggle it side to side with some force till it starts to slip off the splines - then get ur dad to give it one almighty pull - so it hits him in the face instead of u - genius - dad wasnt impressed
