First point of call in this situation is to uprate the 'BIG' 3....
Wire from alt to battery to 4 or 0 gauge
Wire from battery to chassis earth to 0 gauge
Wire from engine to chassis earth to 0 gauge
Makes a huge difference say technical bods...
Next step after the big 3 is a bigger battery, a varta blue for the diesel corsa, and finally if its still strugling then get a bigger alternator.

I currently have a 4 gauge running from the battery to a distribution block behind the dash, from there I have 2 8 gauage cables, 1 to the amp and 1 to the head unit. Then I have 8 gauge running from the amp to the neg terminal.
I seriously would have thought the wiring I have would be ample, dont really wanna be spending loads more on wiring when I have just bought loads brand new.
Can't see the alternator being the problem, the car is a 1999 1.6i Civic Coupe, surely the alternator in that should be enough to drive a 300W RMS 15" and a 250W RMS 12" that are more than likely running around 200W RMS each from the amp.

but have you uprated the ground on the car? uve got all these beefy positive cables going everywhere, but have you made the chassis ground bigger ect?
A loose alternator belt can cause it also.

Dont think the belt is loose because I'm thinking along the lines that I would get some slipping noises when in wet weather and putting the system through its paces.
I have the 8 gauage cable running from the amp to the neg on the battery, always told that this was the best ground you could get in your car. The ground to the body from the battery also seems ok, but I could possible change it for a 4 gauge and see if that helps.

Read above posts... have you upgraded power from Alternator to battery... battery is just a through pass and if you are dragging current out of the battery using a 4 gauge wire but the wire from the alternator to battery that is replacing the charge is only 8 gauge you can see what will happen

if you are draining quite alot of power to dim headlights maybe a power cap might help?

i doubt it, dimming lights is usually caused by lack of initial power anyway, so a cap could make it even worse

Still not had chance to sort it yet, been far too busy with work and uni. Gonna hopefully run a new 4 gauage ground from the battery to the chassis. Then running another 4 gauge from the alternator to the battery and going to run a new fresh 4 gauge hopefully to the boot into a dizzy and run all my amps.
