Right I'm selling my Cup and buying 2 cars( 1 for the missus). I have just come across a mint s2 Rallye with 50k on the clock at a really good price. What do people know about these? ever driven one?
This is the car.

Good fun, slower than a GTi without the creature comforts. Depends if you want something a bit stripped out etc with cheaper running costs than GTi handles well..

I'm used to minimal creature comforts with the Cup anyway. Does look in very good condition and as you say cheaper running costs.

Tune her up a little and it'll be the same as a GTi anyway in reality. And its nothing like a VTR, not gay for starters

Think they are quite good to be honest pug rallys usually are, my mate has 1.3 8v 205 rally and thats great for what it is beats the shit outa mine. Saw a 106 rally at the weekend was only slightly tuned but still sounded great.

Ive had 2 rallyes, good cars for fun factor, found them a bit tedious for long journeys. perfectly balanced chassis, good B road weapon but not a lot of outright pace. If you liked driving your cup, im sure youd like one of these if you dont mind the dropping 70 bhp or so.
What has that rallye been lowered on? Its a good chassis to start with and needs to be lowered properly with decent shocks/matched springs and uprated torsion bars. otherwise you risk turning a superb handling car into an average one.

Dump those wheels for starters and get a set of Rallye graphics. Some white Racelines or Speedlines look the dogs.
I wanted one a while back and read up on them. They seem to be decent little cars. Easy 1.6 16v conversion from a GTi too
Dunno if you've tried http://www.106rallye.co.uk but i found it to be useful.

Yeah, the lad has ordered the graphics, and will sell them with the car, and white 15's is exactly what I was thinking.
