Sounds like a vacum leak in the vacume system, as you brake your using vacum from the vacum system and if its leaking the revs drop

yeah, a tiny leak/hole/crack will usually close up as the engine warms up and expands

My GSI done it on the first touch of the brakes, it normal, but if it does it all the time its not so normal, As 3CM says its all about the vaccum

right, drove my car last night and it was pretty smoth, but the revs are not backing off as they should, revs stay high when i change gear.
then this morning car wouldnt start without giving it sum gas. bummer. had a look in the haynes but no mention on how to set the correct length on the i.c.v anyone no?

just wind it back as far as possible. the engine will rev high when u first start it up but it wil automaticly set to the right place.
