you are mistaken my friend.
You card is unable to support the new Direct X 9.0 codepath for half life 2, thus you will not be experiencing it on full whack. I bought a 5900 a few days ago and then came across several articles on this issue. So bought the 6800 and now trying to sell the 5900.

I will try and find the link for you so you can read the article. but the posted screen shots for the dx8.1 and dx 9.0 codepaths and there was a notable difference in quality, particuraly with water effects.

I am aware of directx incompatibility (if you can call it that), but since i am able to run Directx 9 special FX in software mode and all the rest in hardware mode, i cannot see any difference in quality from my own and screenshots taken with hi end systems. Im also running at 1280x1024. I have the millenium falcon of PC's, looks and sounds shite, but goes like a zirtek
