one small problem, wondering if anyone else has had similar exp.
bought a set of speedline alessios for my corsa 1.6 sport (w reg)
put them on at weekend & looks wicked as expected. problem was though to fit the centrecaps on ive had to take the dust covers off the end of the hubs and insert 3mm spacers. without doing this the centrecaps would not go on however hard i tried.
will this cause me problems in the future or does the centrecap act as a dustcover any way??
also when i brake now there is a lot of juddering / shaking - is this problem related or something else.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

try hammering the dust covers as flat as they go first, the judderingg/shaking sounds like ya new alloys have highlighted a suspension problem or the wheels aint seated right

Did the wheels come with spiggot rings dude, if not this can cause these symptoms, they are plastic rings that go on the hub before the wheels to centre them on the hub and stop them moving around under driving conditions

try tightening the wheel nuts more mate!, came home from tyre garage once and realised they hadnt tightend the front left enough cos i managed to pull a nut off with my fingers! fukcin cowboys

supposed to tighten after a few miles anyway...
chuck the grease caps and put the wheels on without spacers..

i tried putting centrecaps without spacers + would still nor fit on
blagged my ed cos these speedlines are supposed to be made for vauxhall (could be for the older models??)
dont think i need spiggot rings tho as they normally come with the wheels if required - cheers neway.
surely tho the grease caps r there 4 a reason??

the wheels is gona be covers up anyway so nothing should get in.. just give it a good grease every now and again

I have the problem on my 1.2 16v too. Dust caps off the front, still on rears. 3mm spacers all round.

same old problem had with novas. it was eauther trim the inside of the centre cap bit of take a bit off the end of the inner cv where the king nut goes on.
i always chose getting the cv ends machined myself

i just ditched the dust covers four years ago, 40,000 miles and no problems with wheel bearings etc!

i had this prob when i had mine fitted to my old 1.2 and when wheelbase fitted them they binned the dust covers and using a grinder they ground the stub axels on the front down and you've also got the use the smallest split pins on the castal nut you can fine or eles they score the inner center caps of the speedlines. do all this and you'll be fine. what it is is that the newer corsa's after r reg have longer stub axels on the front than the older corsa's.

col004> yeh wheelbase told me to bring my car down but couldnt be arsed. there were some small pins on the back axels but just bent them back.

also, whilst on the subject.
is it possible for me to lower 60mm on eibach springs without arch rubbing?? what are the best dampers to go for soft ride.
my car is still shaking when i brake, but i think its down to the spacers as it didnt do this before - not really a problem just wish it didnt.

i've took all the grease caps off mine, and still needed spacers as well to clear the castle nuts. got 5mm on back and 3mm on front
doesnt rub tho, was down supposedly 50mm but seemed alot lower

get rid of the spacers mate and do what i said, spacers are dodgey and i would never have them, my corsa that ive got now is 60mm alround too and no scrubbing on 16's (not speedlines though), also my old corsa was 60mm all round and no scrubbing at all with big stez in the boot and even with heads in.
