looking for an In Car GPS system, around the £350 mark, something similar to this by halfords:


Has anyone got any recomendations, that they think is good?
It needs to be able for me to plug a post code (grid OS) and be able to direct me to it!

can get gps software for symbian mobile phones for around 200 mark

Use a map mate , much cheaper

aint for me, its for someone in the company, just wanna be able to type in a grid reference and be directed to that point.

if theres a PDA lying around mate, get a GPS adaptor (can get them in CompactFlash form if the PDA supports it) and get tom tom...will work out alot cheaper

just get a full tom tom system which you can take from car to car

thats ugly as sin mate

no, you can get the software Tom Tom (which runs on that ^) for symbina mobiles and PDAs if you have either of those, it will save you a fair bit in mulla (especially if you know where to get Tom Tom from )

Im sure that the bundled Tom tom gps reciever also acts as a dongle so u cant just use the software with any GPS adaptor.

good thinking but i have heard of people using their own though maybe some googling will help out on this matter

...well i know you can buy tom tom software on its own, so im guessing that but googling hasnt found anything though

dixons do a HP 2210 PDA with the Tom Tom attachment for £400, you get a PDA as well then.

the tom tom attachement is the Software, not the big screen.
