when the bonnet is open i can hear this nasty rattle from the inlet manifold area when revving the engine hard???
ive heard this is a common preblem?
what part of it is exactly rattling? is it the Upper and Lower inlet manifolds??
would replacing the inlet system with e.g Mantzel get rid of the sound??

Quality GSi and people still insist they're a much better engine than the X16XE
Look at replacing the inlet manifold with a Mantzel one anyway - is the noise noticeable from the cabin?

'dont' think you can use the upper & lower manifolds from an ecotec.
have a word with vauxhall - im sure that later C16XE engines had cast manifolds. if thats the case, try get one of them

yeh i know mate, cant really be bothered, rather spend the money on somthing else for the car...
but thought if its a plug and play from the Ecotech engine then mite be worth it if i can get hold of it cheap from scrappy or somwere.. and im sure that the later Gsi's were Ecotech's?

the difference is the X16XE lower inlet has EGR ports and stuff which will need blanking off, also the way the upper and lower halfes are joined is different
