If I do a insurance quote as a Uni Student My premium's are fucking high!

If I say I'm a self employed computer programmer, they're quite a bit lower (£400+)...

Whats to stop me doing this? How will they know what my profession is?

How can they check? it's not like I have an employer? - they'd have to ring me up and go 'Hello Paul, do you have a staff member called... erm - yourself... working as a computer programmer?'

It's definately a way out for them paying in the event of a claim.

Oh also its Third Party Fire and Theft... so it wouldn't be a risk of me crashing my car and not getting any money for it (as I'll already have that risk lol)...

Ok it's a risk if I hit someone else though...

if you have an accident then they ask you where you were going to/from

if the accident happened at uni questions may be asked why you were there etc, maybe easy blag but digging a deeper hole for yourself?

Depends on if you want to park on the Universitys property. The reason why the insurance is high is because of all the chav idiots and teenage girls who can't seem to drive ther car properly and either try a handbrake turn in the uni carpark and destroy thier car, or just don't look where they are going and drive into their car.

Yes yes... but even with my profession set as student I will claim I've left my car at home on my drive way So I'd be just as fucked with that anyway.

Well, when I drove my car to school officially I wasn't insured because I never told them I was parking on school property. I also never told them I had a job or anything like that....

They might phone you up and ask you about referential integrity and when you're like 'uuummm....' they'll know.
