i have a kenwood tape player that came out of a supra last year.
the problem is i think the phono sockets on the back of it are fucked, if so i will buy a new one before i get an amp, is there anyway of testing these before i go out an buy an amp, lol

before you ask i dont want a cd player, i listen to hardcore and tape packs are still made and i own about 130 packs (about 1500 tapes).
they still come in tape format so why bother

rca's just send a signal, i think its between 1.5 and 2 v, when unit is on

Positive to the connector, negative to ground (an unpainted part of the body work, or the headunit's groud if you can get it into that)

the voltage will vary with the volume (otherwise, the volume wouldnt change ), between 0.01mV to (what ever your HU is rated at)
and yea, the pin is positive and the outter ring is ground
