1:

i have a p/plate on my corsa, i want to put it on another car. do i have to put it on retention (25 quid) then pay 80 to get it on my next car? if both cars are in my name do i still pay this fee or is it different?

2:

once i take the p/plate off the corsa, which reg goes on it? do i get my old one back or a different M reg one?

cheers

1 - 80 if your transferring onto new car straight away else £105 to remove and retain for up to 1 year.

2 - will be whatever plate the car was 1st registered with.

No £105 to remove from car and 1yrs retention + you can stick it on another car in that time (25/yr each year thereafter) or £80 to swap from 1 car to another

2 - no this is not right - the original Reg plate is not "HELD" to go back on that car - if someone else has done the same as you they could have been issued your old plate - if your old plate is available then yes you will get it back if not you will be assigned a plate.

A friend of mine had a Sierra sold it after having a private plate on it for over ten years - the only plate they could assign it was an S plate - he had an S plate sierra i thought it was a cut and shut to begin with

Oh dear get your own insults.

Why not read the rules of the DVLA or in fact speak to them to find out about the reintroduction of number plates.

Fact you cant buy a private plate to make a car newer than it actually is - CORRECT FACT.

However the DVLA will make expection in certain circumstances and this must have been one of them - im not blind and i have seen the car YOU HAVENT - FACT.

Now im sure that your boyfriend wants a bumming so off you go theres a good lad.

Ive seen it thats it.

Anyway sorry about the off topic.

PS if i posted a pic everyone would scream photoshop anyway - cant win. lmao

So your saying you cant buy a private plate to make your car look newer than it is.......however it can be re registered to look newer - doesnt make sense does it, the DVLAs got a huge pool of earlier plates it could issue

Less of the childish gimp talk thanks son....we all know ur the one batting for the other team

What makes you think they have a mammoth batch of plates?

When a car is written off or dumped in a brakers yeard that plate is lost.

How many F plate rust buckets are on private plates? How many are in the yard?

They dont have huge pools of plates to use at all.

If you dont believe me (i cant believe im still biting here to be honest) ring them whatever - i have seen the car and thats it - lmao.

DVLA still hold numbers after a cars been scrapped and can/will re-issue them......same if you hold a private plate on retention and no longer wish to have it - it goes back to them
