Is there much difference between 256mb and 128mb cards for the money?

Not really, the XFX one is very good, and that price is remarkably ok....

look about on the net see if you can find someone with one in stock..

tbh the 6600GT is overkill for the cellery he has...

radeon 9800PRO with 128Mb is plenty enough! HL2 will run 1024x768 with 2xaa and 2xaf with all detail set to max with no worries at all! plus can be got for around the £100 mark now

but the CPU will slow things down a fair bit!

is the CPU upgrade like a graphics card? just get a new one and swap it over?

should be able to

but try get what model motherboard you have, look on gogle & see what chips it will take

no point buying a 3.8ghz p4 & then finding out it only takes upto a 3.2 or something!

Plus, the new P4's run on a different socket to the old P4/Celeron, so you'd need to get the correct one too.
9800Pro would work dandy, especially as they're releasing new updated HL2 levels in 2005 that make the most of features on ATI cards.
