THE THING IT CONNECTS TO IS THE CHARCOAL CANISTER.
oops caps lock!
the charcoal canister collects vapour from the fuel tank.

The thing on the end looks like the fuel tank vent valve that vent vapour to the charcole canister, it usually clips onto the upper inlet and is plumbed into vacume system
