red dot is specifically for hard driving, particularly track days. They need warming up before you get good results. You might hae crap fluid, dodgy MC, old hoses. Could be anything. Check them all out.

Its the ABS matey, causes loads of problems on these cars, brake pedal sometimes jumpes to the flor under heavy braking, i had V6 brakes on my GSI and now own a 306 TD and the brakes are loads better

V6 are miles better, make sure ya fit braided hoses front and rear though or the pedal might feel a little scarey to touch, ie spongey

a decent swap mike, go for Astra mk2 GTE brakes, they are the same diameter as Corsa Sport 1.6 brakes, but wider and the calipers are far superior. Do you have the 1.4? these are a straight swap.

my gsi brakes were crap
replaced with ATE 16v discs and calipers, and now they're...............still crap
i'm thinking it may be party related to the rears?
worn shoes or fugged wheels cylinders perhaps
i'm gona take mine to one of those free brake test places see if they can find fault with them.

My pedal has loads of travel and feels rubbish but its had new discs and pads, drums and shoes so it actually stops OK if you give it a prod. I prefer it tbh, means its easier to heel and toe
