if you've never sprayed before id say dont bother, yeah you could geta half decent job but more likely to make a complete fuck up and it'll end up costing you more to get someone to sort it out.
what sort of job were you planning on doing??

if u have got the stuff already like the compressor, gun and air lines, then you may as well give it a go.
if you prepare all the stuff well you should be ok, just take your time with it.
i am looking for somewhere to rent shortly to respray my whole car once i have done the bodywork, nd this is going to be my first time spraying with a gun.

spraying is not as hard as ppl think im totally self taught and alot of ppl say im wasted being an engineer i should paint for a living, even taught myself to do the odd bit of airbrushing too
gravity feed guns are best to use and easier to handle/menover etc
prepare surface well and use even strokes and have fan on the gun so the paint spreads to shape of what ur spraying i.e side of car u should have nozzle spraying vertically
last when using 2k lacquers always apply a thin coat which wont look very good to start with allow it to go sticky allmost so it would pull tiny hears from ur finger and then a good solid coat of lacquer, this method avoids runs
and one thing most peeps dont tell ya it never hurts to add small quantity of hardener to paint and lacquer just helps cure paint better b4 lacquers go on
