if your pairing the phone with the pc then one of them will give a code, simply type the code in on the other one and your done! use the software that comes with the phone aswell.
the windows bluetooth thing can be quite annoying

neither device will give you a code, just put the same code into both devices, i.e put 0000 into pc, then the phone will ask for code and put 0000 into that, and they pair.
It is there as a security feature to stop you pairing with devices that other people own, and don't want you to pair with.

how are you trying to pair it?
Easiest way is to go into "bluetooth places" search for devices in range, right click on the d500 go to pair devvice, then a box should come up asking for passcode, enter whatever you want, then the phone should ask if you want to pair with pc, press yes/accept, then the phone should ask for passcode, enter the same code that you put in the pc, and they should pair.

SP2 has built-in Bluetooth support, the software that comes with the adapter isn't needed usually.
