Are you not ment to power subs 50% more then say the 300wrms power?

your supposed 2match rms to rms generally, so 300w rms to 300w rms!

but yes, generally you do 20%, ie: sub rated at 300wRMS, you buy a monoblock rated at 350wRMS (or around about there) - that way you have enough headroom to turn the gains down abit to stop distortion created by the amp when playing full wack etc etc
As for amps, you'll need a monoblock rated at around 850-900wRMS @ 2Ohms (thats if the subs arnt DVC or anything) But like chillout said, might aswell buy an Oxygen amp to go with them - your looking at about 400-500 quid plus just for a decent amp

i deffo think overhead is NECESSARY to run any speaker properly.
Lots of people in the know reccomend double the rated power of the speaker, then u can keep the amp down low (cool and clear) and still be running the speaker to its full potential.
Personally i run a buffer of 50 - 100% over power and setup accordingly.
