Getting a Powerflow cat-back system for the Astra fitted on saturday.

Now thing is, aside from tailpipe design (I want twin square tailpipes), how can I get them to build me a system for my £330 that will enable me to get as much power as I can out of my lawnmower engine (1.4 16v)?

Not going to decat as I can't be arsed swapping for cat on MOT time, and will probably get a stainless steel Lexmaul or similar manifold in the future, but for now, can anyone help me design a decent system for my Astra?

I have some questions...

- What bore size would it have already, and what size should I get them to use?

- Would it be better to have a pipe from the cat to the back box, instead of having a middle box?

I don't care about how quiet or noisy (within reason) it's gonna be, just want my exhaust to give my engine a bit more poke - don't wanna chav my car up, after all it's only a 1.4 16v Astra auto!

To be honest i wouldnt bother modding a 1.4 Astra Auto. Id save up for a bit and get something thats going to actually gain from any potential mods.

Well the thing is the current back and middle boxes have holes in them and I was quoted about £190 to replace them (standard).

So I thought I'd spend the extra £140 and get a stainless system. I'm not going to change the car for the next 5 years as a) I've spent a lot of money on it fixing/maintaining it, and b) I'll be selling it in 5 years and buying a nice Holden Ute with a V8 engine when I move back to Australia!

I don't want to mod my car just for the sake of it, just want to 'upgrade' it a little to make driving it more bearable!

But I don't want another standard exhaust system that will just rust in a couple of years time or so!

Can't I just have no exhaust system? It will make the car more lighter too = better performance...

The guy actually told me (I didn't ask him) about the grade of stainless steel they use, and that it's not the crap one that rusts...

OK some more exhaust questions (general - not manufacturer specific):

- What is the current bore size of my exhaust, is it 1.75"? Would having a 2" bore size be good?

- If I was to get a stainless steel manifold, where can I get one from? I know Regal sell the Lexmaul one for £330, are they any good?

- Are these 'performance cats' any good or just a load of BS?
