took car into garage today because it keeps cutting out everywhere, they said the ecu is saying the 'egr' valve has gone, he sed its £111 from dealer for this part + the fitting.
does anyone have any knowledge on this problem???

Me me me me me i do!!! it sounds about right, i think the valve is about £100 and i can imagine fitting it will be a bitch because its in a right awrkward place, you CAN blank it off, i took my EGR valve off, got the gasket, drew the outline of the gasket on a cut open coke can, cut it out, and used that under the gasket, so it will blank it off, cheaper way of doing it!

can buy a part off vauxhall which is used on the 1.6 opel astra in europe its a proper blanking plate cost me a couple of quid from vauxhall u2u me if you want the part number

thats a good price tbh i rang vauxhall garage and they said 230 for the valve and fitting.... from what i remember u can just blank it or do what i did and clean it!
not sure on blanking and MOT tho ?
