i'm confused how do you know what size the box is inside or know what size it will be when you've build it
i want to make a box for my 12" sub but i want it to the side of the boot space and want to use the contour's of the boot side and i've no idea how to calulate the air space
any body help

how are u going to make it fit all the contonurs? if it were me id prob fibreglass it to fit erfectly, then build the sides out of mdf to make a 5 sided box. id then fill it with enough sand to fill the space u want the box to be and then level it and mark it out. then id put the final side on here to the box

yeah fogot to mention that the back is going to be fibreglass to fit

basically the boot curves around the wheel arch, basically ur going to have to work out the sizze for 3 boxes and add together and thi ill give u a rough estimate if the size of urs wen fibreglass
do understand how imean??

wot do u mean the back will be fibreglassed? as in the bit against the seat backs? y would u need this fibreglassed?

right i've got the user guide here and it say's:-
sealed enclosure
19mm MDF board
1.21 cu ft
34 litres
50% speaker box wadding
also the depth of the sub install is 124mm

so loo-goblin, i measure each one work out the Cu Ft of each of them and then add all of them together to get the overall Cu Ft

ok, i think i now get it. but wot was wrong with my idea? make it patially, put in 34 litres of sand wot wotever and then mark and finish.

there's nothing wrong with your idea, infact it might be easyer to do as i'm not that great with mathamatic's

its just the box idea wouldnt be as accurate or close fitting. it would be how i do it

think i'm going to do what you said James@CCC and then work out the Cu Ft how loo-goblin said that way it'll be spot on 
am i right in thinking that the 34 litres inclueds (sp) the depth of the sub

the boxes wont be as accurate as itll cut off the corners. the sand idea will be spot on.
and yes, i believe the 34 litres is the size of the box it needs, u dont need to worry about the depth as they work it out for u

lets hope i pull this off
and in time for PVS
i've got this boot install and door pods to make aswell as mounting my 6x9 and wiring it all up
