after i come back ma hols im gonna do the dreded drving lessons an hopefull be ready to do the test at the end of the yr, i was gonna get a 1.28v corsa to start of with, i have been tring to fined a exhaust for it and i seen the sportex one and u can get the manifold to that comes with the cat replacment, would i still pass a mot with the cat replacment an the full system

I wouldnt bother tuning a 1.2 8v. Just get a back box on its own. Spend the rest on a good set of brakes or springs.

^^i would say the factory brakes, if maintained correctly, are sufficient enough for the car. Get a good suspension set-up if anything

yer the amount of speed you can get in my 1.2 8V you could prob stop with your feet 
I'm gunna get alloys and suspension for mine as first mods.
but do what ever you want its your car

there not as dire as ppl make out
mine to get me to work and back as you get done for speedin its alright for what its needed for
ps yes i know im putting a 1.6 16v in

for a first car 1.2 8v is a good choice
Done nearly 70,000 miles in mine with only brake pads and a battery needing to be replaced - get 45mpg regularly
Parts are dead cheap if engine goes wrong. Much better engine than the 1.0 12v.

1.2 8v isnt a bad engine, if you're not looking to race etc, can get to 90 no problem. The engine itself is solid, and they never seem to have many problems - other than a few minor bits.
Yep, not the fastest, but enough to get you there..

Yer my 1.2 8V is my first car. Obviously aint that quick but its nippy enough. It makes a good first car and the insurance is fairly cheap.
Also ive heard nothing but good things about them in terms of reliability as the engines are one of the toughest going. However the 3 cylinder 1.0's are suposed to have a few probs. But i dont know anyone that has one so dont take my word for it.
Anyway short answer is a 1.2 8V is a jolly good first car

Just get a back box for a 1.2 8v. Any more and you're wasting your cash.... If you want noise, fit an induction kit if you must.
