Weight isn't the important factor.
The aerodynamics of a shell with have an enourmous influence on a car's handling.
A good example would be my brushless powered DTM Mercedes Coupe.
With the shell on, she is quite controllable.
Without it, the chassis swaps ends even easier at much higher speeds, and will actually flip over when performing doughnuts on a smooth surface.
With the body fitted, you can doughnut it all day without any negative effect, apart from tyre wear that is
