--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This how I did my badboy bonnet take your time and it will be good not hard to do but time is needed.

You will need: a bonnet, cardboard, steel sheet, flap wheel, hammer, grinder, filler, wet n dry paper, sand paper, primer and most importantly a welder.

1. get some cardboard and put under light area and draw around it
2. now draw a straight line from corner to corner
3. cut out the cardboard shape.
4. re-draw on steel sheet (20 guage i used from B&Q about £14 for 100cm x 50)
5. cut sheet to shape
6. bend metal wit hammer to curve slightly
7. grind all paint off the edge of the bonnet both sides using a flap wheel I used 80grit (Garryson Flap Wheel 30 x 15mm 80grit )
8. weld every inch along the plate
9. grind welds down
10. fill
11. shape,
12. fill
13. smooth with 80 grit then 120 wet
14. prime
15. leave 12hrs
16. rub wit 1200 grit.
17. put in filler in tiny holes (pin holes)
18. prime
19. rub with 1200
10. prime

thanks

It's better welding metal in, as when the bonnet gets warm the metal would expand at a different rate to the fibreglass and it wouldn't look too good anymore.

Nope, best to weld. If you want to fibreglass do as follows...

1. on the area and some of the surrounding area you are fibreglassing remove absolutely all the paint, or the fibreglass will crack off.

2. Lay several layers of cling film over the headlights so it is about 5mm thick.

3. Lay several layers of fibreglass matting that is roughly the right shape in the gap and onto the bonnet so that your badboy extensions are bonded onto the the bonnet, you will want to bond onto the underside of the bonnet too somehow.

4. Cut the extensions with a hacksaw blade so they are exactly the shape you want them to be.

5. Skim the areas you have applied fibreglass to and the surrounding areas with bodywork filler so you can smooth the fibreglass and blend in the extensions.

6. Paint with high build primer so you can see any dips in the filler that need filling or any high spots that need sanding. Take your time otherwise it will look shit.

7. Primer, paint, laquer and polish, you might want to paint the whole bonnet and blend the paint into the wings to get the color match better....
