i've got an audiobahn A800T amp, which puts out 400w x 1 @ 4ohms rms power. in the manual it says its 2 ohms stable, is there any way it can be run safely at 1ohm?

reason i ask, is i'm helpin a mate out with his system, and he's bought two of these amps, and four audiobahn AW1251t's, which are dual 4ohm subs.

is this the only way they can be run? is there ANY way they can be wired for a 2ohm load?

is there ANY way the amp could handle a 1ohm load. such as this.

if the subs are wired for a 4ohm load between them, this means that 2 subs are only gonna be getting 400watts of power between them, 200w for each sub? not that great when they're 400w rms subs

ideally 1ohm would be great, as then they'd have 800w between them, but the manual says the amp is only 2 ohm stable!

any advice welcome, thanks guys.

it probably can do it, but may well over heat for prolonged periods.
Basically if he has 4 of those subs, hes gonna need 4 of the amps, and run one amp for each sub at 2 ohm.
That will work well as the subs will be overpowered leaving a nice bit of headroom.

think we're gonna use the amp he got for his components to run 2 of the subs, it can do 2 x 300w rms, and use the other two i spoke about to power the other two subs at 1 x 400w rms.
