Eyup, i had a post about this the other day, i recommended my dad to get a pda like skinz told me, but my dad went to halfords n talked my dad into mio for about £400 he said it had 2.5gb hdd for all maps etc and its portable.
also said this whuch annoyed me:
pdas are crap for satnav as they are designed a computer as well where standalone units are all sat nav, and u have to be computer literat to d/l maps onto pda etc, so my dad now wants the tom tom go 700 or the mio 297 i think

out of mio and tomtom go, tomtom go, tell him to stop listening to muppets in halfords and to listen to me as i design software for these devices

lol will do, was well annoyed when he said he went to fukkin halfords, he said he very nearly bought it! hes asked me to look at them on net and print off what i recommend (or u!)
