my mates got a corsa with an x14xe and has just had a new manifold and sports cat fitted and its now having troubles starting, i dont know if this has anything to do with it though but he says he can hear exhaust or air leaking out of the manifold some where
once the cars moving and has started its fine but some times it takes ages for it to start or it doesnt start at all
any ideas?

it could be a poorly fitted exhaust or manifold gasket..... if there is just too little backpressure then they wont wanna start up. try holding a rag over the exhaust while turning it over and if it fires up easier then its a loss of pressure causing it. Get a decent garage to fit new exhaust manifold and downpipe gaskets i say...

mm well some powerflow dealers are great some are useless lol. try the thing with the rag and if it makes any difference then theres yer problem. Even if it doesnt work tho sounds like a leak, gaskets are very cheap so could jus change em anyway to be sure.
When its started how does it drive? ok or is there a lack of power?

could check the lambda sensor... its quite sensitive if they knocked it about when fitting the new exhaust it would definatly cause running problems. Dont know exactly where it is on the x14xe but look for something a lil bit like a spark plug screwed into the manifold or downpipe, that'll b it
