Now this 3rd party mod is how things should be done! just goes to show how versatile the Source engine really is. amazing work.

I thought that HL2 used the Havoc2 engine?
Also it goes to show what can be done when the developers release the SDK to the public, IW wouldn't do that with CoD as they it would of contained the code for the AI in the game which IW didn;t want anyone else getting, shame as there would of been some absolute killer mods if they had of released it - IW's only fook up in my opinion.

HL2 uses Valve's in-house engine called Source.

Havok 2 isnt just an engine though. It can be modified for game... molded if you will. Burnout 3 uses the Havok engine, but its certainly different from the Havok engine used in other games. Just a tad bit of info for you there

I think Havok is responsible for the physics but I might be wrong, personally I thought HL2 was a huge overhype and didn't offer hardly anything new to the genre...

i thought it was, and still is amazing. not as much replayability as HL1 though.

Havok can be modified for all types of games, but they are just the physics side only (afaik). I dont think the game engine is Havok, could be source like cybermonkey said.
Its like tea and sugar, tea is cool on its own (the engine), but add a bit of sugar (havok), and you've got a whole new taste. Crap example, but yeah

as far as i know Source is responsible for things light lighting effects, real time shadows, reflections etc... mainly graphics.
Havok was used for the physics side of things. Chairs breaking and wood flying about, cars rolling down hills, things catching on fire etc...
