my fan has not been workin 4 about a yr
but up to wednesday as long as i drove n wasnt stuck in traffic the engine wouldnt overheat.
when i was struck in traffic it would overheat......
but since wednesday it now overheats all the time eg after only 2miles.....
This wkend i found out y my fan doesnt work so that will get sorted 2moro but 4 the mean time i cross it over so the fan is on all the tim (when the ignition is on) but 4 some reason its still overheatin
any ideas????
also ive let all the water out of the radiator it was a brown colour.
i rinsed it through until clear n then topped it up.... went 4 spin round about 2 miles til it was nearly over heated look at water in bottle n was dirty again..
ive since rinsed radiator out again n done same n once again its brown.... is this normal..
cheers

Blimey did you not think to replace the fan switch ASAP?
The constant overheating must of blown the head gasket hence the quick over heating.

about 90% it will be headgasket from all the execessive overheating gonna cost a lot more than it would have to get a new fan switch at a tenner

a fair bit, because you have been running the engine to very high temperatures constantly, you have probably warped the head too, so that will need skimming before the gasket can be replaced.
