Actually it ws my gf that told me how v-tecs work,shes had 3 now, 2 crx's n a civic.Mayb she was wrong but im sure she told me that it kicks in twice.
Nevamind eh, so im wrong..who cares!!

I think she means that when you are below 5500 revs the normal Cams are rotating, then after that magical 5500 revs the 2nd more wild set of cams kicks in in conjunction with the first set

Hence DOHC

Yeh i wasnt sure how the v-tec really worked til she told me, but it sounded a bit funny hearin that the v-tec works twice.I know that theyr defo crap in the wet if thats any help tho, i locked up round a bend in her civic, skidding onto a lowered pavement.lucky ther was no kerb ther!Cheers 4 the explaination lads.sorted now!!

Better explanation seeing the CTR has an I-vtec engine http://asia.vtec.net/article/k20a/index.html

Article is on the K20A engine which uses the same principle, where the current civic is the EP3
