i need 1xsub out, 1x aux-in, mp3, better than 4 x 45W amplifier,

Thanks

That looks LEDGE
Dont really mind how much it costs... my sub wasnt nearly as much as expensive as i thought it would be
When it's all finsished, i should only have my 2 front door 6x9's actually running off of my HU. The midbass drivers (dont know what ones yet), and my sub will be running off of two seperate amps.
so, i dont know if the internal amplifiers are such a big factor...?
i need:
1 pre-out,
1 aux-in,
MP3,
something that doesnt skip!
remote would be nice...
and i dont want it to have a screen that folds out, otherwise it'll get in my way...
Whats your HU, why is it so much better?

Just wondering, what's the difference with preouts, say from a 3v to 4v as you said? I know I have 2x4v preouts but don't know quite what that means!

its looks alright, bit too flashy for my liking, but personally i would have stuck to that alpine - that was the stuff of dreams
martin - get an alpine or pioneer mate, but it all depends how much you want to spend. If you've got about 200 quid then pioneer 77mp - 3x 6v outputs, plays mp3s etc no remote, has aux in via a bus converter cable, sounds really really good, not flashy in any way etc

The Alpine was fucked within a few weeks of having it, and the sound quality on the clarion is much better compared to the 9855R.
The 9855R had a 1 bit DAC which suprised me, the clarion has a 24 bit DAC and the difference is shocking.

i wouldnt say very very slow richie, but yes isnt a speedy beast but still, only takes 30secs or so to load the cd and about 5-10secs (depending on size of file) - so its not too bad.
But its that and the size of the lcd screen that are the only downside (to the pioneer 77mp) to this HU tbh, think its bloody brilliant for the price though
suprised about the alpine though, thought it was 24bit - but yes i agree, a BIG BIG difference between different dacs though

btw - do you know what the new pioneer DEX-P90 is like? even though its a DVD player 'n' all, still seems a bit expensive unless im missing something

Thats. Looks crap, but the pre-outs got me thinking...

So the higher out put on your pre-outs the higher you can have your gains...?
obviously sticking to the rule of not going crazy with it

basically with higher preouts, you will still have a pretty strong signal by the time it reaches the back (as voltage drops over length of cabling), so usually its cleaner and better etc
As for gains, usually you have to have them lower as the signal is 'bigger' (has more volume to it) - one thing that has confussed me though is that amps always state an input value, usually 3/4v, but ive been wondering if theres problems forcing say 6v into the amp etc - have never found any info about this, but then again ive never had any problems (though i would stay away from cheapy amps)

Def reccomend the P77mp, very good unit with superb sound, i paid £350 for mine ages ago and dont regret it seeing the prices today, im using a similar speced alpine at the mo but the pioneer was def better
also had the p8600mp - very good unit also with the scroll menus for mp3's and card-sized remote, these can be picked up at very good prices so take a look at them!
