If i buy a head unit with a screen is it possible to attched and CD/DVD changer to it or do i need a unit that plays cds.

It depends on the make of the headunit... Apline/Pioneer/Kenwood/Clarion etc will all support CD/DVD changer.. and they'll normally have a regular AV input for a PS2/DVD player etc..

The cheaper models that are knocking about on eBay prob don't support CD/DVD changers.. I'd say they'll prob just have AV inputs.
