check rear beam, there is a spring attached that controls how much rear brakes are used (ie, more weight in back it uses drums less i think)
i've lowered mine 40mm about a year ago, it eats brake drum shoes for dinner lol, although £30 to replace em every 8 months aint much.

its dangerous when you brake hard.
the back end brakes very hard and starts to want to pull out.

i have adjusted mne, the car used to become 'nervous' under hard braking. You need to slacken the nut and bolt above the back axle on the load proportioning valve which holds the spring. It is the rear most nut and bolt. Pull it as far back as you can and re tighten. This will be easier when the o/s/r corner of the car is jacked up. Mine is loads better now, so much more confidence inspiring under heavy braking.

If lowered 60mm and no adjustment made then it must be a right handlful under heavy brraking unless it is siezed.

I belive its only 1.4 and above that have this problem as any smaller corsa up to 1.2 have a differnt system based on how much weight is in the rear.
Can go dig out the haynes manual if you want more info as i think this is where i read it
Drives supercharged Tec with torque

There are two types one that can be adj and one that cant. The type that can be ady uses a spring type valve above the axle and the type that cant be adj uses two in line valves

No you need to check it. mine is also 2.0XE does not make any difference because it is a 1.2. Simply some corsas had one type and some the other.

Hope fully if yours is adjust able look under the rear of the car and look across the back axle at the drivers side. hopefully youwill find a large coil spring with a hook at the rear. If you do then undo the nut and bolt untill it is slack. You may need WD40 if siezed. Once free pull the nut and bolt as far back (towards the rear of the car as poss) and re tighten

Never done mine and my car stops fine no matter how hard I press the brake pedal! Although it does go through brake shoes a bit quicker than I think it should

I think its probably the main cause of my brake judder, uneven braking, which i hope to solve by sorting this out
If i have any problems is it ok to PM you with questions, Steve ?

This wont cause brake judder alhough uneven braking may have something to do with this. During high speed braking my car would step out to the left. Not good. Yes you can u2u me. If your struggling i may be able to take some pictures.
