i was thinking about changing my 1.4 16v for 1.6 16v! but have been told to try and sourde a z18xe instead as it is the same block and should be a relatively easy swap! Just wondering has any body tried it?

dunno... but i'd be tempted to see if the z18 block can be used with the earlier head and remapped earlier management system

Will be awkward as the Z18XE is drive by wire throttle.

i'd personally go for a C18XE, more about, cheaper, and it will mount using xe conversion mounts apparently...

think the idea is to get away without using big block mounts
could try running the z18xe on c18xe manifolds and management perhaps

dont know that the c18 manifolds will fit the z18 block tbh, looking at my mums engine it appears to mount differently too

the guy who suggested it seems to think it should be not to much trouble compared to the job he is about to tackle, bmw 735 engine into a 3 series bmw. seems to think the block will fit strieght onto my gearbox and use same mounts as it is small block xe! Going to try and find out how much the block and ecu and loom will cost as he says fitting it should be no more than 600quid

The guy has fitted a few and doesnt really rate them! Says dont handle as well as tuned small block xe and more hassle to fit properly!

true more hassle to fit, but corsa's don't handle that great anyway, my corsa don't handle as good as my nova does
plus i would put up with the handling for more power

having second thoughts now as i have just seen the price of tuning it f*ck me! Over a grand for a inlet manifold! What kind of power could i expect from a 1.6 16v with inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, cat bypass and full system or would it be worth while doing it to my 1.4 16v?
