Car was clunking whilst accelerating etc on my way home from Santa Pod.

Going round a roundabout I lost all drive & had to be recovered home.

Im 99.9% sure it will be the CV joint which is the problem but is there any chance that it could be the driveshaft itself? Would the damage be clear to see if it was?

CV was changed a few months ago so is it possible that the shaft has simply popped out? Or will I need to replace the CV anyway?

Cheers all

the splines would be all twisted. if theyre not, and look fine and not sheared etc, then id say it be the cv joint.

which side was it? passenger?

If you lost all power its more than likely you've popped the driveshaft out. Just drop the ball joint and pop it back in.

Was thwe CV's clunking and clicking before it went?

Yeah it was sort of twitching to the side quite violently.

There isn't really a way to test the CV is there? Apart from putting i all back together again & trying it?

Im rather worried that it can pop out too

I had this very problem a few weeks ago, turned out the ball joint was snapped and caused the CV joint to break because of it

Dead easy.

I did it in the rain though so it took a bit longer plus I got held up a little. Dare say If I had all the bits together it could be done in just over an hour. Thats including removing the old one
