I need it to be live all the time when the ignition is turned off but not when its on

wire up the positave to a perm live and the negitave to an ignition live, then when the ignition is off the ignition live becomes the earth and on comes the light! guess its for door pins with leds in them? if so there should be plenty of wires on the electric windows to play with

will that not short when its turned on? It's for an alarm light which flashes on its own - the one from my alarm is controlled by the alarm so i cant just tap into that

dunno, iv never done it, just a random idea that came into my head.... cant see why it would short tho.......hummm maybe it wont work.... do you have a multi meter, if you do just wack it in and see what happens, would do it to mine but i cant be bothered....

If its an led you can wire 2 lives to it as in brosters idea and it wont blow

Use a relay that switches the curcuit off when a current is sent though it and wire it up to an ignition live....

Whats wrong with the wiring it to ignition live? Saves the relay.
