debating wether or not to remove the aircon in next weeks enginefest
removing it will mean an extra couple of days work, removing dash and more money for a new mount and getting the system de-gassed
keeping it will mean extra weight
i only have 9 days to do the swap, and i dont really know where to start, so the aircon may prove a little tricky and time consuming
opinions please

i know
but i've never done an engine swap, and i'm slightly dubious about having extra work to do, and trying to get the right mount from vaux at short notice, which is never easy
also.... i'd have to take the dash out, then i wouldnt wanna put it back in, and i'd need new dials etc.....

more worried about the fact that the compressed gas will more than likely gome out under pressure, and be immensly cold, and give me cold burns....

I'd keep it on there. A/C is lovely in the summer when you thrash your car and TVR Cerberas have it because they have to - too hot without - so if it's good enough for them etc etc.
If you do remove it though, don't pay for de-gassing. Just put some riggers gloves on, hold your breath, and loosen a low pressure connection and run away till all the gas has gone.
I'd deffo keep it though as that's just plain destructive, and their are people out there who would give their right bollock for air conditioning, and you would regret it the moment the warm weather arrives.
Imagine the first thrash of the summer - everone else is sweating their bollocks off with their windows wide open and you're all locked up tight in air conditioned luxury - coool

yeah, this was the other thing.... if i manage to get it out intact, i can sell the whole lot for about £250 or more to someone i know who really wants it for his mantzel'd gsi
keeping it would be easier for now anyway, as i could keep the same mounts and not have to faff around with the dash coming out and stuff
then in the future, when i get confident enough to whip out the engine in a weekend, i can get it out then....
