i've also heard you shouldnt wash it after painting, and shouldnt wax it for a few weaks as iut pulls the paint or somthing? sure i heard that on here.

I've heard it "over the years" and wondered
Got the parts back on Saturday so may leave it 2 weeks
Cant find anything on the internet regarding it

when i had mine done i was told to leave it for a couple of weeks, and if it got too dirty just to rinse it off with cold water, nosponge or owt

The only reason why you shouldnit is the paint will remain quite soft for a week or so, you can feel how tacky the laquer is using your fingernail digging it into the paint. This makes it a bit more vunerable to scratching and stuff, so just be carefull.

never been told not to wash etc for a while..
as it's all baked on properly you should be able to wash/wax straight away..
when i got my veccy back i drove from the bodyshop straight to jetwash

we clean theh cars before the customers pic them up and we never had a problem!!

been told ot to polish them for 5 weeks min from meguires themselves. paint takes a while to stop gassing, like ed says is still soft. washing it is fine though.

Was told the same as you mav.
The people that take car of my car say that i can wash/wax straight away because they properly bake the paint.

Washing is fine, polishing or wax is not as the paint is still tacky and can cause damage

I think all of the above is rubbish.
I asked my bodyshop the above and they said I could do anything to the paint I wanted too.
The reason paint is baked is to make the paint / laquer hard and to set it.
I have always washed and waxed my car after I get my car back from my bodyshop.
Also when they first did my car they wax the WHOLE car straight after it came out of the booth for me.
Another thing..
When they spray big panels like bonnets etc they have to flat them out.. They use a cutting compund to get rid of the orange peel effect.. This is done after the car comes out of the booth with a machine.. If anything was going to cause the paint problems this would....

I see both sides of the arguement, but as I wasnt sure thought I would ask.
Threw some water on this morning to get rid of the dirt, may wash it tonight

 when i went to pickup mine he'd just washed it.. Told me to give it a coat of wax when i could... he didn't give a shit to be honest after i'd paid him

main reason for baking is quickness.
i've never had any of my cars baked apart from the mg which was repaired in a dealer due to a crash.
each one that wasnt baked the paint was perfect.

load of rubbish u can wash wax do what ever to brand new paint we flat the little imperfections out of the paint and polish back up using a cutting compound and a mop so washing and waxing is fine , my new corsa came out of the oven saturday afternoon by the nite its was back to gether washed and polished!
