does anyone know the proper number plate regulations?
my mate got stopped last night for having his numberplate cut down.....police said to him they are trying to cut it down. anyone caught will get 3 points...........
ive only just recently cut mine. i thought it was legal as long as the letter size and spacing was correct?

anyone know the proper requirements? mines will be illegal anyway as they are in italics....................

no worries as far as i can tell it's not illegal... theres some plates which are clear except for a certain amount of spacing/white around the text sassyminx's cossie has them:

and they are legal so you need to find out what that spacing is then as long as the text itself meets the requirements and you haven't trimmed under this it is legal

Alrite bud as far as i know you cant get points for illegal plates.. Ive been stopped a few times in the past. Pretty sure all they can do is £30 fine per plate.
Woulkd like to find out if points are possible though because al be changing mine straight away if they are.. too close to having to get the bus as it is.. lol

Yeh its the amount of white around each letter, although the letters on your plate are illegal cos of the font

You can get points as i looked it up with my plate, also i think if you get caught to many times (not sure on the number) they can seize the plate

imho it's more of a novelty thing for some people.
i think it just draws unwanted attention to your car from the police for little/no gain but each to their own... it does make the front a bit cleaner/more subtle depending on your bumper style
