Just had an MOT done and it failed on the single wiper!.The car got through with it on last year, but the guy said it restricts my view because it doesn't wipe all the screen.
I want to contest this, any advice on what to do or any website with the legalities of all this.

get a longer wiper blade to cover more of the screen

mine passed fine with my single wiper!
tell them if they fail citroen ZX/AXs as they only have single wipers as standard!

Yup! also the C15 van had a single wiper!
tell your MOT tester to tell you the amount of screen that needs to be clear,

cars that have single wiper conversions now fail the mot.new rules as of a few weeks ago.some places will pass them aslong as they are not dead centre in the screen

as i say it's upto the mot tester.but they are deffo a mot failure now

It is indeed a failire of they dont clear enough of the screen... if u look at a mercedes single wiper for example, its massive... much bigger than the gay kind most people put on

mot tester at work.i was looking at one of my old vw mags with a mk1 golf on the cover.it had a single wiper conversion on it and he said thats now a mot failure

mercedes are different thought theres are clever, when they get to the corner of the screen the wiper is pushed out , so it sweeps up the side pushes out for the corner then pulls back in for the top then pushes back out for the next corner then pulls back in for the other side of the screen!
very clever to get it to work when the wipers going fast and funy to look at!

like said before what about Citreon AX's ZX's and C15's???
they all had singlewipers as standard and the wiper arms were only 14" or 15"

What size blade u need then so it will cover the whole window?
Not got my mot till March time I think but better change it now coz i will forget when the time comes

My car passed today 
But on the subject of single wipers there was one of them citron jobbys behind me at the lights and i thought it was strange that the lady driving it had a single wiper conversion
makes a lot more sense now i know they are standard issue
Drives supercharged Tec with torque
