i've had real trouble with tiscali over the last couple of months. I was getting downstreams of 18kbps at times on a supposide 2mb line. Its now much better, but not without some moaning to tiscali to sort the problem out. I think its just a case of congestion in the network....
I've just done another test and got....
so its definetly improved !!!

Do the same test at adslguide.org, and see what you get.
That speed from the tiscalli serves is all and well if you download from tiscalli servers all the time.

In general, yes, that's bad...
For PlusNET, given recent topics on ADSL Guide, added to the fact they've bought MetroNET and are squeezing all of those customers into their already heavily congested network, that's apparently pretty good...
I take it you've not fallen foul of their FUP/SUP yet, like many other people who don't just use t'internet for email and one or two websites per month?

Yeah, Tiscali have been doing some serious network upgrades recently, according to posts on ADSLGuide......it's taken them a few years, but I guess it's better late than never!
Oh, and Ian, I assume you know about the deferred-activation deal tying you into PlusNET for FIVE YEARS? Leave early, and you have to pay a portion of that money back before they'll release your line, how much you have to pay depends on how long you stay with them...

Well, it's my job to make sure your internet connection works, so you may thank me heartily for that!
Oh, and if you haven't already heard, keep your eye out for a major addition to this diagram shortly, a project I've been overseeing for the last month or two!

It's either your computer or your downloading stuff at the same time.
