Could be a silly question but... do you have to pay to scrap a car?

You have to pay to dispose of it, but that assumes there's nothing worth having off it. What car is it?

nah don' think so...unless the scrappy has to come and pick it up and it's worth nothing, might have to pay for them to take it away if you can't drive it to them.

It's my girlfriends car, it's modified, bodykit, exhaust etc etc, but the car is a nail. It's been in a smash at the front, most the mods appear to have been bodged, ie, the kit is coming away from the car in places, and the respray it's had is awful to be honest, it's not been done properly. However, there are 2 or 3 things on it that are sellable, like the Magnex backbox, Corbeau bucket seats etc.
She's desperate to get rid of the car but not sure how to really go about it. I don't really think anyone would want to buy the car as it's in such a state, so we were thinking of taking a few of the valuable things off it and scrapping the rest.
It also has a 1.6 Nova engine in it, but we don't know much about it. It apparently has Kent cams, chipped ECU, and a power valve . Not sure of the condition of the engine.
So to sum up, she wants rid of the car but we don't know the best way to go about it? Any suggestions?

Sorry about the size of the interior pic!!
Also the front of the car now looks slightly different, the bonnet vent has been taken off and the paint is red where it's been. Also the front bumper is off.

I'm sure someone will take that off your hands. Its worth money in bits. If she wants the reg transfer that off before you do anything.

She has, winning bidder didn't pay up or make any contact. Then re-listed it but it was taken off by eBay because the title used was classed as being spam, as we put words like "Saxo" and "Fiesta" in the title to try and get more people to look at it. Didn't realise eBay would take it down for this reason

We did think about the reg actually, may be worth a bit to the right person? Not sure how you take the reg off the car though? Does the old registration number go back onto it?

Yeah, cost you 80 quid though, and you'll also need a change on nominee details if you take it off in your name and sell it to someone else, and thats 25 quid.

I managed to get my old corsa taken away for free from my dads drive by a local garage, id already stripped out engine, brakes, suspension, interior, the chassis was bent from the crash etc too and they just came to take it away. Might be worth asking around

It's now back on eBay, took Mattb's advice and set a starting price of £100 with no reserve, just hope it sells this time!
