yeah you had to turn it more than the 30 degrees or so that you would normally need to turn it. Sounds like the bit thats broke off is preventing your lock from turning properly.

yea, as said in general chat, sometimes, such as an hour ago, my lock would not return to the normal upright position and allow me to take the key out. Is this another symptom? If I wanted to just get a new lock from Vauxhall, would it be made to still fit my current key?

you dont need a new lock just the deadlock part that sits on the back of the lock barrell. A new lock from Vauxhall is something like £50 and the bit you need is a couple of quid.
Take it out and send us a picture of it and i will tell you what the crack is.

ok, so I don't actually need to take the barrel apart? I hope not, I'll mess it all up!

unless you have two different problems then no your actual lock barrel should be fine.

well, I'm more concerned with the deadlock and alarm, as my door still allows me to put the key in and turn it to open the car no problem, just sometimes won't let me remove the key when it is open! I have figured out though, to do that I just unlock the door using the key, open it, lock it again with the key, remove the key, and then unlock it by just pulling up on the button!
Although, now realised that won't work when the deadlock is fixed, as I wont be able to lift the button with the door deadlocked!
