TBH mate i'm not into modding anymore. The most i'd ever do is maybe a decent IND kit and exhaust on the clio but the astra and seat would stay standard..
Wierd thing is a few years ago i would have killed for a black cupra but now it dosn't seem as good as it did

I do short journey's though and after experience turbo motors use loads of fuel even when driven slow were as the clio will do 35 mpg if i just go slow and when i wan't to use the power it's there.
Hard
http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/specs/data.aspx?model_id=991&id=19208
According to that the astra should get 32mpg
http://www.parkers.co.uk/choosing/specs/data.aspx?model_id=1263&id=23590
the clio only gets 2 more
Id go with the astra.
