Hiya
im buying a set of 17" konig alloys off the net and the price includes a set of tyres that are 205/40/17 there is an option to pay £15 to upgrade to 215/45/17 or £20 and upgrade to 215/40/17 what is the difference and will the more expensive ones fit? as u can see i kno hardly anythin about this stuff. i think that the first part of the size is the width of the tire, the second is the height of the tyre from the rim and the last is the wheel size
hope that helps - im not sure which is better but id guess that 205 would be the lowest from the rim as would be the one thta is strectched over the rim the most

if your puttin them on a corsa dont go for anything bigger than 205/40x17 as thats about the widest you can go without scrubing and the tyres are reasonable price compared to 215's

according to haynes the markings are as follows 205/40/17
205= width of tyre in mm
40 = this is the "aspect ratio" or profile of the tyre so the tyre height in relation to the tyre width expressed as a percentage in this case 40% so- 40% of 205mm = 82mm
17= wheel diameter in inches and other markings are
V = speed rating
and
R which means radial
