Are there any products out there which would allow me to link a surveilance camera to my house, looking at the driveway which would allow me to watch or even record the footage on my PC?
Cheers

Dvr card from ebay, much cheaper than buying one from the cctv sites.
Connect any camera upto it.
There are also wireless and wired network cameras.
These just join onto your existing network and can be viewed from a browser.
You'll be able to record this 2.
Then there is the option of just using a webcam depending how much you want to spend and how good the quality has to be.

They aren't cheap but they seem to be a very good way of doing it.
Especially if you happen to have the money and an existing wireless network.

DVR card but computer needs to stay on which can be a problem.

Well I have a couple of laptops under my bed from work, Can you get external ones?
A laptop would use less power.

They're all PCI I think. Maybe you'll find PCMCIA/USB.

I've got a 16 channel dvr card of ebay ian.
The compression isn't the best and you have to use their software but it does the job.
I've not seen the video on an expensive one though so don't know if they are any better.
James your thinking about things to record tv i think.

wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to use VCR?
I know it would only tape for 8 hours (e240 on LP) at a time, but maybe its just during certain times of the day you need to survail the area?

I can look back and see what happened over a month ago with a few clicks.
Now not usefull very often I admit but a lot easier than realising you either didn't press record or that you've just recorded over something you need.

To be honest I only need it to record through the night, as I've heard various threats of my car getting nicked aswell as a Carjack attempt, so think its about time I got some surveilance on my Drive.
I would prefer a big obvious camera to a small spy camera as it may deter people from even trying.
Cheers for the suggestions

If thats all you want it for and you'll make sure you press record every night, and have as many tapes as nites you want to be able to look back you'll get away with a video recorder.
Computer you can easily schedule to record at certain times though, or only when theres movement.
As most other things, down to money.

Basically I wouldnt mind it overwriting every night, say on 12 hour loops. Im never going to go 12 hours without noticing if my cars been stolen/trashed so rewriting to a HDD would be ideal

something like this would be ideal so long as the camera itself can be kept indoors.
