Hello

I have a cctv camera which I have had for ages (cant remember its exact origin!!). Seeing the recent CCTV post has made me want to get it working
I just don't know what the wires are

This is the camera

This is the back of it where the wires plug into it

And this is the other end of the cable, I know what the big plug does, but does anyone know what the other 2 are? Are they for power? Is there any way I could find out the voltage?

Thanks

Looks like power.
They normally run on 12v.

Well - I've found the chip - just not on any English speaking site - all Chinese electronics sites.

Most cctv cameras i've seen also use 12v supplys.
Get one of they multi voltage ones.
Just turn it up a bit till it works.
It'll prob be 12v anyway.
I'd guess at red being positive.

2 will be for your power
and the other 2 is your coax lead which is the one which goes into the back of your tv.

Are you goin to be using it outside or in?

i presume it doesnt have a seperate coax out?

On cameras ive installed, it has used two cables for power (e.g. your red and black), and two cables for controlling the camera (the last two cables). If you cant control the camera then as davey said, its probably your coax out.

What does the other end of the wires look like?
And it will be 12v dc

easy peasey then.
Just need to try and sort out a 230v-24v DC adapter (and try and establish the current rating).

Id also be tempted to buy a DVR card of ebay for a few quid?

A normal argos etc multi voltage supply will be plenty for that.
It'll draw a couple of hundred milliamp max.

Thanks - Yeah I was going to buy a card off ebay. Have a wariable power supply thing that my dad uses for models and things - you can select the voltage on that so i'll give ti a whirl and let you know how it goes!

I'm using it inside but pointing through a window onto my car
