I know this is a Vaux website but just thought I'd try my luck here as i dont know any good VW forums! Sorry for the essay!

My friend has just bought a fairly new Bora (cant remember the exact age but its Y reg or around then!) Its one of these where the standard VW setup would be two units one for radio and cassette and a second for CD, his at present only has trhe cassette unit though! I have said I will fit him a new CD head unit but he wants me to fit the new aftermarket head unit in the space where the VW CD head unit would fit if it was installed. Is this possible as he want to run both side by saide as the VW untis would? i have not looked at the wiring befind but can u plug directly into the cassette/radio unit as I assume the VW CD unit would do so that both can work side by side with an aftermarket, say Kenwood or Sony head unit and if it is possible is this reccomended or will it cause probs? I was going to take the cassette unit out and replace with the new unit but he wants a cassette unit also. I always assumed it wuldnt be possible as the VW headunits wouldbe made to work together where as an aftermarket unit would be made to be 'stand alone' but he says someone has told him it is possible
