yes, all for $49 a month. thats about £20. i get speeds up to 1mb/sec on my 256k line, and i thought that was fast  i suspect it could be even faster than that at certain hours of the day

In my experience when you get 100mbit servers or something round this description the highest output I can get is 10mb per second.

I think what Paul is getting at is there's 8 bits per byte, so the theoretical performance of 100mbit networks is 12.5mb/s.
It can't sustain this speed due to various reasons within the algorithms, hence why you can never fully saturate an Ethernet link.

no, there is no limit at all. i think the upper end of the server bandwidth is around the 500mbit mark, so the end user will be able to handle a theoretical 50mb/sec. but this is in optimum conditions, close to an exchange.

So they're offering 17Mbps (bits per sec), which is 2.1Mb/s real speed.
I'm on ADSL2+ already here -- speeds upto 24Mbps, although my line is shite so I only get 14Mbps max...
