you need

sort code
account number
name of account holder (payee)
description or reference for the payment (i make up loads of random shit, im suprised the police or feds haven't come to 'see me' since a few payments i sent my mate with dodgy names when it was just cash for him to withdraw for me as ive not got a card )

i do this all the time via internet banking and the local branch

Everything thats on a standard cheque - name, sort code and acc number. Its easy and you don't have to go to the bank then wait 5 days for it to clear.

you still need to wait 3-5 days if there different banks (hsbc to barclays) but its instant if there the same bank (hsbc to hsbc)
