My mates got 1, gearboxes can be a problem and i believe its a big of a cnut to put it a new one, not far off an engine out jobbey because of the sub frame.
Handle brillo, pull like joe feck. My mates onlt problem has been the gearbox, his got stuck in 3rd.
Look out for the rear diff's as well.......can make a horrible winding noise unless this is how they are!?
His has been the most reliable car he's owned, just the fuel bill is alot to be desired

had a pulsar gti-r a few years back on an L plate. had a total engine rebuild by DP motorsport to get 350bhp out if it. have to say that theyre seriously quick motors. watch out for the gearbox and clutches as they can go if not looked after. rear arches also tend to go, which will be nothing new to a vauxhall owner

look like shite, but can go like greased shite.
I'd rather an impreza though.
And this whole thing about reliabilty is down to the use and maintainence of the car.... not just it ix X so it will Y

just for those who dont know... they have the same engine as the 180sx(s13 the 200sx (s14/a) and the s15 also... so are very tunable... lots and lots of parts available off the shelf...

Awesome wee cars but as mentioned butt ugly. A box with a huge cyst on the bonnet.
would love a go in one tho
All this poop about them being jap so they dont break is tosh. If u neglect a car, itl break no matter wear its made, they are all made out of the same stuff you know

I think they are an ace car myself! Share the engine with the Nissan 200sx range (SR20DET) although the later SR20's got electronic ignition and different rods etc etc
People think Jap cars are bulletproof - the non performance models generally are but like any high performance car - especially ones that are eeking 300bhp+ out of 2 litres things can and will break! Mostly because they have been poorly tuned - Probably the biggest killer of Pulsars!
Just got to look after them - Warm up, cool down, use good oil and change regularly, keep an eye on the gauges (fit more if needs be) and have some mechanical sympathy!

the engines are really strong its just the drive train that can let them down. as someone has said you need to look after them, i changed the gearbox, engine and diff oils every 3000 miles religiously. that might seem a bit excessive but compared to paying £2k+ for a rebuild i think it was time/meoney well spent.
these cars arent ugly in my opinion and its so much fun wasting shite scoobys

people keep going on about the bonnet vent but its there for a reason and certainly looks better on that car than every other car that people seem to stick them on
by all means get a fmic and then there is no use for the vent but while ever its a top mount intercooler then you need it!!!
